According to the pictures taken by the local Han-jiang Lai, the fourth monument was reportedly rebuilt in around 1935, and ruined by the earthquake in 1942. |
The erection of the fifth monument was attributed to the breakage of the fourth one. In 1968, planned by the Chiayi Air Base, it was renovated into a small park and has been standing intact since then. |
The sixth monument of Tropic of Cancer- the Landmark Hall was built in 1995. Thanks to Chia-yi County Government’s scheming, it has now transformed into a science and education center opened for the whole county. Also, the renovation of each generation of monuments along with their beautification and greening has been finished in June, 2005 to open for the local residents and general public. |
